Privacy Policy for Myjiji

01Who this notice covers

Myjiji is a network of connected modules, operated by MijiniTech Limited. This notice explains the information involved when you use the Myjiji network, how it is used and shared, and how to contact us about your privacy.

Your Myjiji account can be used across modules. Each feature has its own information and sharing context, described below. Visibility depends on the feature you use and what you choose to publish or share.

02Account and activity information

Depending on the features you use, information can include your name, email address, phone number, profile image, sign-in details, support messages and records of your activity. Information you enter in listings, forms, uploads or messages is processed for the related feature.

Different modules use different information. The module notices below explain the relevant applications, orders, bookings, documents or content.

03How information is used

Information supports your account and the module features you choose, including applications, shopping, bookings, publishing and business workspaces.

Information is also used to respond to support requests, troubleshoot problems, protect accounts and maintain the service. Where analytics is enabled, usage and device information can help us understand and improve the experience.

04Who receives information

When you submit information to an employer, seller, provider, host or other business through a module, the relevant recipient receives it to handle that activity. Public listings and posts are visible to their audience. Workspace records are available to users with the appropriate access.

Myjiji uses service providers for authentication, hosting, data storage, media and communications, including Google Firebase. When you choose a payment flow, the payment service processes the information needed for that flow. Those providers also have their own privacy notices.

Third-party infrastructure may process information outside your country. Contact us for information about the providers, processing locations and safeguards relevant to your use.

05Cookies and browser storage

Sign-in and session features use cookies or similar storage. Browser storage also supports preferences and feature state, such as saved carts, temporary booking state or chat history where available. Where enabled, Google Firebase Analytics can also use cookies or similar technologies to understand service use.

You can manage cookies and stored site data through your browser. Blocking or clearing them may sign you out or remove locally saved preferences and activity. Clearing browser data does not itself request deletion of records held by Myjiji or a provider.

06Security and retention

Account access and workspace permissions help control access to records. No online transmission or storage method is completely secure. Protect your sign-in details and avoid sending passwords or unnecessary sensitive information in forms and messages.

Retention depends on the information, the purpose of the activity and applicable requirements. An account deletion request may need to be considered alongside transaction records, legal obligations and information held independently by a business you dealt with. Contact us to ask about the records relevant to your account.

07Your choices and privacy requests

You can review the profile and content controls available in your account and contact us to request access, correction, deletion or to raise an objection about processing. The rights and exceptions that apply depend on the relevant law and circumstances. We may need to verify your identity before handling a request.

For account deletion, use the linked request page or contact the privacy email below. The request page opens an email draft; you must send that email to submit the request. Do not include identity documents unless they are specifically requested through an appropriate channel.

If you are concerned about how personal information is handled, contact us. You can also raise a concern with the applicable data protection authority, including Kenya’s Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
